Speed Lens uses local motion detection, software stabilization, phone stability sensing, known scale, frame timing, and gate crossings. It stays local on the phone and does not require external radar hardware or cloud processing.

Auto track mode

Point at one moving target, enter a rough scene-width scale, and get a smoothed held speed with confidence and stabilizer status.

Live two-gate mode

Place two draggable gate lines over the camera preview, enter the real distance, and let motion crossing produce an estimated speed.

Manual video mode

Import or record a clip, scrub to the crossing frame for Gate A and Gate B, and calculate from timestamps for a reliable MVP fallback.

Local history

Measurements are saved on the device with mode, speed, distance, elapsed time, confidence, FPS, direction, and optional notes.

Automatic when possible, calibrated when needed.

Auto Track gives a fast field estimate. Two-gate and manual video modes remain the better choice when you can measure real points in the scene.

Accuracy depends on calibration, lighting, camera angle, frame rate, tracking quality, rolling shutter, and whether one object crosses both gates cleanly.

  • Auto mode: needs a scene-width scale hint for approximate real-world speed.
  • Stabilizer: offsets frame-to-frame hand movement, but fast pans and rotation still reduce confidence.
  • Best view: perpendicular side-view motion.
  • Best distance: measured real-world gate spacing.
  • Best capture: steady phone, no zoom changes, clear lighting.
  • Best fallback: manual video analysis when live tracking is uncertain.
  • Never use for: enforcement, certification, or safety-critical decisions.
